MEET THE TEAM
SOPHIE
"I started my training when I was 15. I was very fortunate to work with the world renowned Jean Louis David in Cannes. I met my husband Tim Butler in Cannes whilst he was doing his music tour. I fell in love and 11 months later I found myself in Edinburgh. I loved Edinburgh straight away and got a great job in Klownz in Stockbridge and worked with the amazing Derek Preston. We then came to Fife to join the family business and then a few years later the Seafood Restaurant, Butler and CO Deli and Sophie Butler were born. After a couple of years running my mobile salon, i opened my first shop in 1999. In 2000 we moved to Greyfriars for a bigger premises. In October 2013 we moved to this lovely premises on South Street.
The Sophie Butler team is carefully hand picked by me and I am always very picky with who I work with. I try to have a wide range of personalities to suit everyone and all our staff are trained to the highest standards. We take our training seriously and we never stop learning new skills. I absolutely love my job, my favourite part is making a difference to someones day".

"I joined the team as a newly qualified stylist. My job is fun overall but I enjoy dry styling hair with pleats and braids to give the hair that festival feel".

SELF-EMPLOYED SENIOR STYLIST / MASTER COLOUR EXPERT
"I have worked in the hairdressing industry for 10 years and joined the Sophie Butler team 8 years ago. I enjoy creating the perfect colour for each client, especially balayages, and I am enjoying exploring lots of different techniques as I begin my journey to become a Colour Master Expert.
I enjoy challenging myself in competitions; having even reached the regional finals in Trendvision 2019, and reached 2020 UK Bronze Winner in the colour specialist category. I have a passion for styling hair; I love creating the picture perfect look whether it be for a photoshoot or your everyday client hair. I also became a GHD brand warrior which sent me around the country teaching other salons GHD styling techniques."

SALON MANAGER
“Having originally joined the salon as a Saturday girl back in 2010, my role within the business has constantly evolved. I completed my hairdressing training and thoroughly enjoyed the last year on the floor as a graduate stylist. However, I have recently decided to take a step away from doing hair so that I can concentrate on managing the business.”
MICHELLE

“I have previously worked in the salon on reception, and it is lovely to be back again. Having worked in retail for many years, this was a different direction for me. I love the interaction with the clients and welcoming everyone to the salon.”
